At CrossFit Brownsville, we arent going to ask you to sign up and throw you right into the mix with the group class. This is unfair to not just a beginner athlete, but also to the veteran members who have completed the fundamentals course, as well as the coaches themselves. First, we want people to learn the basics: how to squat. Where to put their head while pressing. How to use hip extension instead of back extension in the deadlift.
We believe the most effective way to introduce a new member to CrossFit is to teach them the fundamentals of CrossFit over (5) one-on-one, thirty minute private sessions. These can be scheduled with a coach of your choice around your best schedule! Typically the five classes are completed over the course of two weeks, however, we have had a few members complete it over five straight days.
As a coaching staff, we are commited to helping every one of our members reach their goals. You’re new to CrossFit, there are a lot of terms/acronyms/movements you won’t be familiar with at first.
The good news is that all of our movements relate to, utilize, as well as reward proper form of the basics. Because of this, each of the 5 sessions will be broken into a class specific warmup, followed by 15-20 minutes of technique and practice on a minimum of three movements. Finally, we will use the movements we just learned and apply them in a short workout.
